Inner peace and human rights

The 14th Dalai lama is of Buddhist faith and wrote a Nobel peace prize speech saying "If you have inner peace, the external problems do not affect your deep scene of peace and tranquility. In the state of mind you can deal with situations with calmness and reason, while keeping your inner happiness. That is very important. Without this inner peace, no matter how comfortable your life is materially, you may still be worried, disturbed or unhappy because of circumstances"
He tells us that it is our responsibility because if we have inner peace as an individual, we can be at peace with everyone around us. When we feel loved and kindness from someone else we develop more of a inner happiness and are at peace and share it with others.
It is sad that he tells us about Chinese troops stationed in their home land, and how the Tibetans are being deprived of basic human rights.

Today, Chinese troops are not depriving them of the right to live, free speech and worship, movement and other basic human rights. They are in fact spending billions of dollars trying to help Tibet and because of Dalai lama's speech, China was encouraged to let the Tibetans be their own people.

  1. It's neat to see how a speech can change a country and how people treat others.
