Jeremiah

I’m Jeremiah and I am currently a career student. I have live around Marion my whole life. My major is in Environmental Science. If I ever get out of here I would like to work for a government agency like the Ohio Division of Natural Resources or some other professional tree hugger group. I like to be outside whenever I get a chance.
“I no longer fancied I could reason with the men whose names I found on the bottles” I found this line to be a little closer to home than I would have liked it to be. The Author says earlier that he wanted to blame the people who made the alcohol and I can understand where he is coming from. You really do want to hate those names on the labels and it’s hard to think rationally that Mr. Jack Daniels and Mr. Jim Beam don’t really exist.
The fact that he is writing this also struck me pretty strong because he can see himself toeing the same line his father did by being a workaholic instead of a alcoholic and laying burdens on his own son while unintentionally the same way his own father did.

  1. It seemed strange to me that he put workaholic and alcoholic in the same category. I don't see how being a workaholic could cause as much of a burden on his son as his father being an alcoholic was on him. I guess that is just another example of his irrational thoughts about his childhood.

  2. The burdens he put on his own son are far more responsible as a parent than what his father put to him. The point is every parent makes mistakes, but it's how or if that parent is able to fix those problems.
